Just 99 miles to go

I killed that cassette.

I'm done with psuedo single speed testing.
I've completely worn out the 18 tooth cog on the cassette.
I figure in total I've put maybe 8-10 hours of riding on it.
I'm not an expert, but that doesn't sound like a lot of use before the darn thing failed.
I can actually look at the cassette and see the difference between the bad cog and the good ones. Before when I'd wear a cog down, everything would look the same.
You can look at this thing and easily see its no good.

I wonder what the job market is like for cassette quality testers?

No worries though. I've got a replacement cassette waiting in the garage, and my Redline Flight 29er should be here next week.

nice

stuff wears out

light weight high tech stuff wears out fast

they do not make it like they used to

the entry level bike would do fine to be 5 or six speed
less range
less gears
less wear
longer life
less disposable

30 year old bikes like Schwinn Varsity are still on the road
while a three hundred dollar mountain bike needs a 100 bucks towards the drivetrain in a year
