Road riding, oh my back.

I got out for a road ride last night.
It seemed like a good idea with all the rain and my lack of time.
The humidity finally broke, so the weather was great.

Once again I was taught the lesson of changing your chain before it gets worns down too much. I just put a new one on.

The chain suck on the middle chain ring was terrible.
The whole ride I was forced to use either the large or small ring.
And to add to the fun, the chain would skip under heavy load on the cassette when it was on the 4th and 5th sprocket. (Yup, I'm making up my own words for bike parts).

Pretty uneventful ride until the sun went below the horizon.
Then the bugs came out. Not the big ones that leave big green/brown juicy splotches on your windshield. Down here in So. Md. we get these tiny nat like things that travel by the billions in large groups.

It took me an hour to pick all the bastards outta my body hair after the ride.

I was kinda surprised this morning with the amount of back soreness I had.
I don't have any problems MTBing but that ride last night bought back some back pains that I haven't felt in some time.

I guess I'm more of a get off of the saddle type of guy.
The thudbuster doesn't do alot for roadriding.

I'm playing the weekend by ear. I've gotta see if I can swap some parts and make this chain suck problem go away.
Of course my lbs didn't have a middle ring in stock.
"We can order it for ya".
I'm getting so tired of hearing that from them.
Exactly what kinda bike do you have to have for them to have stuff in stock.
