Just 99 miles to go

Weedend wrap up.

Once again global warming came through with some great weather on Friday. I got away from work a little early and hit Cedarville. 63 degrees when I started the ride and 53 when I stopped. Summer jersey and shorts all the way. There were quite a few other vehicles at the trail head. I still can't figure out why Cedarville get other visitors but when I ride Rosaryville on Fridays , its empty. 15 miles in an hour and 20 minutes. Winter riding is fun but nothing beats warm temperatures.

Saturday was set aside for the family. My youngest daughters 9th birthday was last week so my wife set up a party for her at an ice skating rink. My main job at these functions is to act as manual labor carrying packages to and from the car, and help keep an eye on the birthday attendees. I also had the task of escorting my 4 year old niece who had never been on skates around the rink. I was kinda nervous about getting out on the ice. Although the knee is now 9 months past its surgery it still feels not 100% is some circumstances. I still wouldn't try skiing.
And did I mention this would be only my 2nd time on ice skates. I caught on pretty quickly the first time I went, 3 years ago. It is alot like rollerblading. Luckily, I went through a rollerblading phase 10 years ago. I didn't have any falls. Can't say the same for my niece.I doubt she weights 50lbs , so it wasn't hard catching her with 1 hand and flailing the other around to help me maintain my balance.

Sunday with temps back to normal I once again visited Cedarville. I'm getting tired of the "prep" we have to go through in the winter for cold riding so I revolted in my own little way. I wore all my regular cotton clothes just showing the rebel I can be when I want.
Once again I was reminded why we go for synthetic materials when cycling. Cotton is evil when it gets wet.
I took it real easy today. I've re-caught the cold I've just gotten rid of and I didn't want to get sweaty too quickly. 10 miles in 1 hour and 40 minutes......I did some exploring, cut me a break.
