I took the x7 derailer from my 26"er and put it on the 29".
Did 20 miles out at Rosaryville last night and I’ll be damned if I can see any reason why I should shell out an extra $30.00 for the x-9 over the x-7.
You can see a difference in the quality of the bearings on the jockey wheels but the actual shifting felt the same.
The chances of a rear d actually lasting long enough to wear out are slim anyway.
The way I follow lines on trails theres a better chance of a new one getting destroyed the way the old one did.
Slowly but surley I’m replacing all the mid level components with junk.
I don’t care.
As long as she keeps spinning along.
